My students describe their experiences

English has never been my strongest point and I struggled a lot when I first started to work in London around 2 years ago. During that time I couldn't call someone alone without help, and what is worse is that I didn't understand much during the company meetings. It really slowed me down from doing my work and furthermore my promotion was affected. But that was before I met Carla.

She diagnosed and analysed the key weaknesses in my English skills, and improved my speaking and listening, which allowed me to communicate with others effortlessly and further, do my job properly. Beyond the lessons, she also encouraged me to use English during my daily social circumstances and provided informative tips to maximise the learning outcomes. After just a few months of lessons, I managed to talk in front of more than 100 people in a conference and I finally got the promotion I longed for.

Carla is not only a great teacher, but also a friend with a heart-warming character. She made my Wednesday morning the best morning of the week. Beware, her passion for English is contagious. Even after I achieved my target of English proficiency at work, she also got me interested in writing short stories as a hobby and currently I'm still working on my pronunciation to reach excellence.

Carla taught me more than English, she made me discover the beautiful world of languages and grow my confidence and willingness to learn new ones. That's a skill I have now for life.

Don't hesitate, go for Carla.

Carla is a very pleasant person who seeks to establish a personal relationship with her students and demonstrates a wide range of knowledge, therefore making discussions with her highly enjoyable and illuminating. She is very professional and helpful.

I've been learning English with Carla for more than one year and her lessons always are interesting and well-structured. I've learnt a lot - especially about grammar which was a challenge for me in the past. I like her creative way of teaching and the feeling that she really cares and wants me to learn as much as I can. I have massively improved my English and Carla's insightful feedback and advice helped me to become a much more confident and stronger English speaker.

I am extremely grateful for all her support and I highly recommend Carla to anyone who is looking for an amazing teacher to help with their English.

Carla is a competent and qualified English teacher. Every lesson with her was tremendously helpful and inspiring, and I would strongly recommend her to anyone who wants to improve their English!

I wanted to work on both academic and general English, and Carla guided me through this journey very effectively. At the beginning of every lesson, I asked various questions that I had piled up during the week. Although some of these questions were tricky to answer or even made no sense, she was always willing to help me and answered every question in clarity. As a PhD researcher, I often brought pieces of my writing or presentation materials to Carla, and she was very helpful in making sure that they are flawless and clear in terms of grammar, expression and fluency. I am sure she could help you with every aspect of English - writing, speaking, listening and reading - regardless of your command of English.

Above all, she is a very passionate and enthusiastic person. She is a good listener and always willing to accommodate a student's learning needs. You will also find that she is knowledgeable about various topics and fields so whatever your interest lies in, you will have an intellectually stimulating conversation with Carla, which is I believe the best way to learn English!

Carla is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had, in all aspects of teaching and personality.

She was my first English teacher in London and it was quite important for me because as a foreign student you need support from your teacher in order to improve your English. It was then that I found out how great a teacher she is.

She is bright, talented, dedicated, friendly, punctual and funny. However what I most admire about Carla is that she knows how to correct your English mistakes without putting you down. Also, I like her remarkable ability to stimulate students all the time. The students can feel the energy and optimism radiate from her teaching. Every class was fun and I learnt a lot of grammar, vocabulary, expressions and idioms. She expects students to be on task at all times and to participate in discussions, activities and games.

I’m really grateful to have found a teacher like her in London that made my experience at the school the best time I’ve had in the UK.

Carla is the best! The relationship between teachers and students in Asia is quite different from western culture.

However, Carla is not just a teacher, more as a friend. She doesn't put herself in a high position, so that we are not afraid of asking questions, and also because of this, she can understand you more and know the difficulties you face in learning English. Often, she will use simple examples to explain words and grammar, make comparisons to some that are easily confused, thus you can see the differences between them as well. Carla's teaching is fun and interesting. In her class you will never get bored, and can learn lots of expressions throughout.

I am really lucky that I have Carla to teach me English!

Carla is a great teacher not only when she teaches but also when you need her help she’s always there for you.

She is dedicated, you can see how she enjoys teaching her students. She is clever and very patient. Sometimes it is difficult to learn another language, but her methodology makes you feel more confident and helps you to learn English in a more enjoyable way.

I made great progress while she was my English teacher and I'm very grateful for it.

I recommend her without any reservations as a teacher.

I met Carla at a teacher training course at one of the famous language schools in London in the recent past. I had studied English many years before, and I also have a locomotor disorder, so I had a little anxiety. (Fortunately, I met very kind colleagues, with whom we formed a very good group.)

Then Carla came and said that she would be our teacher. She organised a short personal conversation with us, one by one. I told her how much I was worried about the things mentioned above. At this point Carla naturally and simply asked me, with a lot of kindness and empathy: 'What is your problem? Because we are sitting here and talking to each other.' This sentence was a lightning in my soul. I felt it was a big and strong sentence that would be important for me for a long time.

I (and we all) enjoyed the course without any tension. We had a very good connection with Carla, her expressive lessons were extremely effective and enjoyable. She is a very well prepared teacher and an artist too, so her teaching was very creative. We learned a lot (she is a definite individual and demanding teacher too) and laughed together, so we felt very very good. (Carla also has an excellent sense of humor.) Unfortunately, the course ended very quickly, but it has become one of the greatest experiences of my life, in many aspects.

I was not very good at English, but I have received so much encouragement from Carla that I have been continuing my English language studies since I came home. She is my greatest motivation. And when I am disheartened or feel stuck in the language or other obstacles in my way, I often remember her 'strong sentence'..

Carla is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. Why? There are teachers who are fixed to the coursebook and don’t realise that this isn't what the student needs.

She knows what she's doing, with which aim, and she loves her job. She’s got a good sense of humour, very important! (Makes learning much easier.) She takes the student as a whole individual person, tries to help and likes with her natural inquisitiveness also to learn new things.

We were a group of students and Carla tried to give each student during the exercises specific help. She grabs at the roots of the weakness. I think it could be exhausting for a teacher to always correct the students’ mistakes, but for me it’s one of the best methods to tackle my persistent errors.

Before I started to take lessons with Carla I often felt quite worried about my upcoming exam – the 11-Plus. When I began studying with her, there were five months to go until my first exams and nine months until the later ones. In my first lesson I learnt a lot and I actually mean it! We progressed fast and soon enough I was at the top of my class and I felt my exams went well.

It has been almost a year since I met Carla. She is a jolly person, who understands you and is very interesting. There has never been a time when I didn’t want to have a lesson with Carla. After the first few lessons she will establish perfectly what you already know and what you need to know, then, as if by magic, she will have taught you that topic thoroughly, then the next, and the next and so on. I think that is one of my favourite things about Carla.
